Log Cabin Renovation
LOG CABIN RENOVATION

A Modern Touch to a Classic Log Cabin
When the homeowner purchased this true log cabin in Jeffersonville, NY, it featured a beautiful structure with great wood flooring and ceilings—but the interiors were never fully finished. Our mission was to transform the unfinished spaces into a functional and stylish retreat by building out a new kitchen and bath, as well as addressing various punch list items that had been left undone.
Kitchen: Painted Base Cabinets & Floating Shelves
Painted Base Cabinets: We used Fine Paints of Europe on the lower cabinets, giving them a smooth, durable finish that stands out against the cabin’s rustic wood elements. The bold, modern color choice brings a fun twist to the otherwise traditional space.
No Upper Cabinets, Just Floating Shelves: Instead of standard upper cabinetry, we installed 2" thick floating shelves for an open, airy look. This choice not only preserves sightlines but also showcases the beautiful wood ceilings overhead.
Countertop & Backsplash: The client chose to wrap the same countertop material up onto the backsplash, creating a continuous, seamless surface. This detail adds a sleek, contemporary feel while simplifying cleanup and maintenance.
Master Bath: Minimalist Design & Zero-Entry Shower
Curbless Shower (Zero-Entry): To maintain a minimalist aesthetic, we installed a curbless shower—also referred to as zero-entry—eliminating any threshold and allowing for a more open, accessible layout.
Rain Panel Instead of Full Door: We fully waterproofed the space so that only a single rain panel was necessary, rather than a complete enclosure. This design choice keeps the bathroom feeling bright and spacious while still containing water effectively.
Streamlined Fixtures & Finishes: A pared-down palette and sleek fixtures underscore the minimalist vibe. By focusing on clean lines and subtle details, we ensured the bathroom complements the cabin’s rustic charm without feeling dated.
Blending Rustic Charm with Contemporary Finishes
This log cabin renovation was both a fun and challenging project, merging classic timber elements with modern design principles. The result is a home that honors its rugged, woodsy roots while offering all the conveniences and aesthetics of a newly finished interior. Whether it’s the striking kitchen with painted base cabinets or the curbless master bath, each space demonstrates how thoughtful planning and craftsmanship can bring out the best in a partially completed cabin—turning it into a comfortable, stylish retreat.
